Service is truly the backbone of any business, but here at Boston Organ & Piano, we take it personally. Sure, like in other industries, we have professional technicians who will respond to your needs rapidly and professionally, but our technicians understand our customer’s needs because they are musicians first. Our Service Manager, Artie Doran, plays several different instruments besides the piano and has played with several local bands. Retired Service Manager and now consultant, George Burke, has been a renowned church organist for decades. For them, matching an instrument with a person, understanding how that person uses his or her instrument, and giving that instrument the expression and sound that they require and need, is an art and a must!

To provide such personalized understanding of our customers and their instruments takes exhaustive research and experience. Our technicians have been to many of the factories where the pianos they service were made including Yamaha’s facilities in Japan and Thomaston, Georgia, the Schimmel factory in Germany, and the Bosendorfer factory in Vienna. They have attended endless seminars, studied how pianos are made, how they are put together, the types of woods used, action assemblies and finishes, etc.

As for experience, Artie first joined the staff when he was in high school…some 25+ years ago, and George joined the company back in 1971. They, and our staff of technicians take pride in and have pure passion for what they do. Whether it is for the Boston Ballet or dozens of concert artists including Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Tony Bennett, Andre Watts, Marvin Hamlisch, Andre Previn, the late Frank Sinatra, the late Victor Borge have and still call upon Boston Organ & Piano’s service team for expert service and peace of mind.

Ok, so maybe you’re not a concert pianist…yet, but you’ll still get the same quality attention that the big stars get. What matters most is that you are our customer, whether you bought the instrument from us or not. We will get to know you and your instrument. We want to learn about your passion, how you express yourself, and how you play your instrument. There are many things to consider; the size of your fingers, the length of your fingernails, how hard you strike the keys, or the tension of the pedals. Our technicians are extremely friendly, patient, and understanding people. Once we learn about you and how you play, we can then give your piano the expression and ‘touch’ that suits you and your style of playing.

Our service also extends well beyond New England. Our technicians are so much in demand that they have traveled far and wide! Service trips to Illinois, California, Bermuda, New York, Texas, and the Caribbean have been made to make sure pianos are perfect. And by the way, our technicians are still tuning the old fashioned way…using a pitchfork. Hard to believe in this day of digital tuners and the like, but time and time again, they have proven to be more accurate. For example, when doing an arpeggio, a string is not necessarily in tune the instant it is first struck. This is something a digital tuner cannot detect.

Oh, and while we’re on the subject of electronics, once again our technicians are up-to-date on the latest state-of-the-art equipment and have diagnostic tools for troubleshooting to work on popular instruments such as the Yamaha Disklavier. Whether it is an organ, digital piano, or an accessory for your acoustic piano, we can handle any electronic issues and get you up and running again quickly.

So now that you know more about the service team at Boston Organ & Piano, why would you trust anyone else?
