BOP
& BALDWIN

Henry
Juszkiewicz, CEO of Gibson Guitars, successfully revived Gibson in the
90's with the help of Ted Stalet (left) and Phil Menino (right). After
acquiring Baldwin, Juszkiewicz assigned Stalet and Menino to help restore
Baldwin to its former prominence. First thing Baldwin did was get A-Level
dealers in major markets. Boston Organ & Piano (John Totaro-center)
is thrilled to partner with Baldwin toward reaching the common goal
of merchandising The American Classic, Baldwin.

TODAY’S
PIANO TUNER NEEDS TO BE A HIGHLY-TRAINED TECHNICIAN
Fine
pianos are still manufactured very much like those of the past. However,
Yamaha’s Disklavier piano requires the skills and knowledge of highly
trained technicians. Omar Medina has just returned from a seminar that
teaches the most advanced points of Disklavier service. Yamaha Corporation
of America at the company’s national headquarters in Buena Park, California
conducts this professional training seminar. All phases of service regarding
the Disklavier pianos are covered at the special Yamaha School. Omar Medina
will now join Boston Organ & Piano Service Department Manager, George
Burke, in offering customers the most competent, up-to-date service available.
No longer
can piano tuners learn their trade through years of personal instruction
at a factory from a master. There are only a few schools in the country
teaching service work today. Some manufacturers and some colleges offer
basic lecture series. In order to provide proper service for these instruments,
Yamaha offers this highly specialized school. Considered among professionals
as the first and best of its type, only eight student technicians attend
each seminar. The sessions are very intense, offering individual hands-on
instruction.
The Yamaha
Disklavier is an amazing instrument. The Disklavier is not only a traditional
piano, but it can record anything played on it. The Yamaha Disklavier
can play back what is recorded, send recorded information to a computer
to print the music played, and has many other features. More and more
of these instruments are being purchased by our customers, making expert
training and then service in the field essential.

Medina (seated) is pictured with Tom Kaplan of Yamaha.
